Case study

Bristol Community Sauna

Original website build, then a full rebuild

Bristol Community Sauna is a not-for-profit sauna I first helped get online at the start of 2025. When they geared up to raise funds for their expansion, I rebuilt the site from the ground up so it told their story properly and was easy to follow. It is warm, clear, and built on WordPress so the team can run it themselves.

The challenge

The first website I built for Bristol Community Sauna went live at the start of 2025 and did its job, getting them online and taking enquiries. A year on, with a crowdfunding campaign coming up to fund their expansion, the site needed to work a lot harder. Their community manager ran a full review ahead of the campaign, and the conclusion was clear: the site needed to convey the brand better and be easier to absorb, so that a first-time visitor immediately understood what a community sauna is and why it is worth backing.

The approach

I rebuilt the site from the ground up rather than patching the old one. The focus was telling their story clearly, guiding people through what they offer, and making it effortless to read on a phone, since that is where most visitors land. I kept it on WordPress so the team can make their own updates, tightened up the FAQ and the enquiry form so questions land in the right inbox, and made sure the whole thing was ready to carry the weight of the fundraising push.

The result

The rebuilt site went live in May 2026, ahead of the expansion crowdfunder, which has raised £42,658 so far. The reaction from within the community sauna network summed it up.

Will got us online in the first place, then rebuilt the site from the ground up ahead of our expansion crowdfunder. It tells our story far better now, clear, warm and really easy to follow, and it did exactly what we needed going into the campaign. He's been brilliant to work with from day one.
